PALMYRE SERAPHIN

Palmyre Seraphin is a Haitian-American Gospel/Inspirational singer. She begins her singing ministry at the age of three with her mom in their local church Temple 1 in Haiti. She soon learns to play the violin at the Victorian school of renown violinist Romel Joseph. While playing the violin she also takes her first piano lessons with Professor Fritz Hunter at college Bird, and Professor Richardson Leopold at l’ecole de musique de Monette Leopold. At church she remains very active by becoming a member of a small group with three other adolescents and also participates in all youth activities. When she turns eleven years of age she discovers that she could eloquently interpret the songs of Withney Houston one of her favorite singers. It will take five more years for her to sing solo when her mom asks her to sing in her place during church service one Sabbath. In 1999 New York becomes her permanent residence. She begins to play the clarinet and joins the band of her new church Gethsemane. In college, she majors in Legal Studies and later receives her Masters of Sciences in Education. While teaching Literature to high school students in New York City she meets well known Haitian Gospel artist Wilkinson Theodore who discovers her talent and invites her to a studio session. These two will develop a friendship that will lead them to collaborate on many projects such as APA, and other recordings. Soon Wilkinson Theodore invites her to his church the Brooklyn Tabernacle where Palmyre says she begins to truly understand God, mature in her own faith, and believe in the power of prayer. In 2009 Palmyre takes a leave of absence from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir to record her own first Solo project “Ou se Jehovah”. The album “Ou se Jehovah” reveals the rich color of sacred harmonies which once again affirm her God given gift used to proclaim his truth.
